March 28, 2025 – The Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors (FASCA) chapters in Washington D.C., Boston, and San Diego successfully hosted an online cultural exchange, "Virtual Hangout," with students from Taipei Municipal Song Shan High School (SSVS, 松山家商). This enriching event was coordinated by FASCA Consulting Mentors Jesse Taur, Tzongshi Lu, Peggy Han and Marian Liu from the three chapters and SSVS Director of the Applied English Department Venus Hsu, with San Diego member Jason Poliak leading the session alongside FASCA leadership.
The theme of the exchange, "Wetlands and Wildlife," provided a unique opportunity for students from both sides of the Pacific to share insights into their respective local environments. Over the course of the 80-minute event, U.S. students presented information on regional wildlife, while Taiwanese students introduced the ecological significance of Taipei’s wetlands and discussed environmental initiatives in Taiwan.
Following an engaging discussion, participants reflected on their key takeaways, highlighting new perspectives on global environmental issues and cross-cultural connections. The event not only broadened students’ understanding of ecological conservation but also fostered meaningful international friendships.
Encouraged by the success of this exchange, FASCA chapters are already planning future online events to continue promoting learning, cultural dialogue, and global awareness.
